Yes. Malta launched the Nomad Residence Permit in 2021 - a 1-year renewable visa for non-EU remote workers earning at least 3,500 EUR/month. EU citizens can work remotely from Malta freely without any visa.
The application fee is 300 EUR. You must also show minimum monthly income of 3,500 EUR from foreign employer/clients, valid health insurance, and rental agreement. Renewable annually.
Budget: 1,500-2,000 EUR/month (shared apartment, cook at home). Comfortable: 2,500-3,500 EUR/month (own studio, restaurants). Premium: 4,000+ EUR/month (2-bed apartment, gym, socializing).
Sliema and Gzira are top choices - central, walkable, cafe culture, gym options. St Julian's has more nightlife. Valletta is atmospheric but pricier. Msida and Ta' Xbiex offer better value close to the action.
Yes - Malta has excellent fibre infrastructure. Typical residential fibre: 100-500 Mbps. Business fibre: 1 Gbps+. 5G mobile widely available. Coworking spaces offer 500+ Mbps. Better than most European destinations.
Growing but smaller than Lisbon or Bali. Active nomad meetup groups, Facebook communities (Digital Nomads Malta 5k+ members), regular coworking events. English-speaking makes integration easy.
